Eftel’s Cross-tier network(*) consists of a national grid of Frame-relay links, facilities in each main Australian city, and peering links to multiple Tier 1(+) providers in multiple locations. In addition Eftel's network is powered by high quality Cisco networking equipment.

Eftel customers therefore receive the benefits of access to two Tier-1 backbones and/or the redundancy and load-balancing effect of our internal Frame-relay links. The exceptional performance of the Eftel Cross-tier network coupled with around-the-clock monitoring, maintenance and support, means faster Internet access and less downtime.

(+)A Tier-1 network consists of multiple high-speed links, with several layers of built-in redundancy. With large capacity and tremendous reliability, a Tier 1 network provides access to Internet content extremely quickly with very high uptime.

(*)A Cross-tier network consists of multiple high-speed links, built-in redundancy, and several geographically diverse peering connections to different Tier-1 networks. The advantage of a Cross-tier network is that it provides access to several Tier-1 backbones, delivering the combined benefits of each of them.
